Saw this monster on the way to the store. Never actually seen one of these in person before. If you're not sure what it is, this is the vehicle that is used for maintenance along those high tension power line lanes.

Why do they need this monster? Well, otherwise you end up like this guy

I see those all the time. They're usually rolling down the super narrow streets and pushing everyone off the road, when they aren't hogging all the parking spots at McDs, giant tow attachment and all...

I guess some power lines in rural areas are pretty hard to get to? I've seen something like that before in Northern Va. Not near as big of tires though.

it's not all that rural here, but in this area in particular the lines run over a lot of swampy ground. i'm guessing that's why they have that vehicle out here

There's a local electric company 3 doors down from me, they have like 4 of these trucks, the evening after a big storm they all left at once and the thunder from the tires was rediculous. Every morning at 8 all the normal trucks roll out like a small army and every night at 5 all the workers trucks leave like a large insurgency.

They also have one of these for extreme cases. It's freaking awesome.
